March 23 through March 27, 1913 has been labeled as "Ohio's Greatest Weather Disaster". (Lorain's greatest weather disaster was the June 28, 1924 tornado). In 1913, as spring arrived, four days of heavy rain fell, starting on Easter Sunday, March 22. Other devastating floods occured in Lorain's past, including in February of 1883 and on January 22, 1904.
