1924 Tornado

On Saturday, June 28, 1924 at approximately 5:08 PM, a huge tornado hit Lorain, after striking Sandusky, Ohio earlier that afternoon. When the tornado hit Lorain at Lakeview Park, it was an F4 strength tornado, with winds of 207-260 MPH! Its first target in Lorain was the bathhouse, seen here. People who were swimming saw the tornado coming and rushed to the bathhouse for safety. Some headed for the upper wooden floor while others went into the concrete "basement" section. 8 people that chose the upper story died, while those who chose the lower section lived.
