During World War II, Thew Shovels were used extensively in Europe and the Pacific. A model called a "Moto-Crane" were used to clear away debris in bombed out London. In the Battle of Monte Cassino, the Moto-Crane set up the big 8-inch guns. During the Korean War, the demand for Thew Shovel cranes was very great - the military purchased 1000 of them.
