Parks in Lorain

Lorain has always had many parks. From downtown to South Lorain, the city has always understood the importance of setting aside unimproved land to enjoy. This is a color postcard of Century Park from the 1920's. Century Park, besides having a beach, was once known for its privately owned Dance Hall. Advertisements from 1910 state that it was one of the largest pavilions and best dancing floors in Ohio. People could catch a streetcar on the "Short Line" or the "Big Yellow Cars" on the Lake Shore Electric to attend the dances or for a day at the beach.
