St. Joseph's Hospital

This is a picture of what the hospital looked like from 1917 to 1949. After the Tornado of June 28, 1924, St. Joseph's treated many of the injured. Many doctors lived out of town and, because of the massive amount of destruction, only 1 doctor was able to make his way to the hospital. The Sisters and nurses had to make-do on their own. All the power was out so private citizens volunteered their automobiles and surgery was peformed by light of headlights shining through first-floor windows.
